Geffrye Museum

The theme of the museum is the history of the English living-room from
Elizabethian times to the 1950's. The museum is housed in Sir Robert Geffrye's
almshouse built in the early 18th century. Doorways in the walls between
the individual houses have been made and the main room in each little house
is furnished according to a particular period in history. Begin with the
Elizabethian room and walk through the Stuart room, the William and Mary
room, the early Georgian room, the Regency room, the Victorian room, the
1930's room to the 1950's council flat lounge at the far end of the building.
Fascinating to observe the changes in styles through the years.
The museum will appeal to all ages. Everyone we've taken there has very
much enjoyed the visit and I every time I visit I learn something new.
Allocate about an hour and a half for the visit.
